Mouthing Off Magazine’s Resident Artists Programme was created in July 2020 for the purpose of helping out young adults achieve their dream of becoming professional artists.
We recognised that there was a need within the industry to provide support to those who were passionate about the arts but were unsure of how to turn their hobby into a career.
Through the magazine’s platform we hope to encourage collaboration, artistic flair, community spirit, and provide our artists with the opportunity of recieving both media exposure and financial support.
Our Resident Artists are a vital part of our platform and will become even more so as we continue to grow with them. Not only do they provide us with the resources necessary to create fantastic digital and physical exhibitions but, through the products they create, allow the magazine to become financially sustainable.
Make sure to keep track of our artists progress, their works, events, and exhibitions as we move throughout the year. You can learn more about each of our artists by clicking the button below!
Justine Rainer is an emerging fine artist from Belgium. After the completion of her Bachelors in Visual Arts at the Académie Royale des Beaux-arts of Brussels, she would go on to pursue a Master of Fine Arts at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin, Ireland.
Outside of her role as a Resident Artist at Mouthing Off Magazine, Justine is also a member of Visual Artists Ireland.
Her work largely comprises of drawing and lithography, however, Justine often incorporates elements of photography and painting within her pieces.
Thematically, Justine focuses on the evolution and growth of her personal experiences. Growing up as a Franco-Austrian, within a multicultural environment, has pushed her to implement languages and the concept of limit into her art practice. She often highlights the experience of a mixed cultural identity in her work and has highlighted the concept, importance, and effect that borders can have.
Currently, Justine is developing an artistic project that touches on the subject of installation and the spatial use of an individual. Her progress can be followed by heading to her Instagram/Website where she often showcases her work.
In this week’s MO Artists’ Spotlight, meet Justine Rainer! In this series, we will be showcasing the work and experiences of our Resident Artists, who have taken the time to have a chat with us either over Zoom or email. We hope that through these interviews our readers will be able to get to know our artists, what they do, and how they have made their way to where they are now. Our Resident Artists work in a diverse range of media, from painting and drawing to ceramics and film, so there should be something of interest for everyone!
