Resident Artists

Our Resident Artists are a core component of our platform. We work together closely with our artists to hold events, produce products, and help them collaborate with other young and passionate artists.

While we don’t have an open-call for Resident Artists we are always keen to find new talented people to work with. If you feel that you would like to become part of Mouthing Off Magazine then contact us and we would be more than happy to have a chat.

Resident Artist

Our Resident Artist Programme

We want to work alongside young and talented individuals who are passionate about art and support them on their journey to become full-time creatives.

Resident Artists will have the chance to take part in exhibitions, create fantastic products for our online store, and have their portfolio housed on our website. As a part of the magazine artists will recieve mentorship from our staff and Art Director who will guide them on their journey to success.

Our hope is that this will provide an experience which encourages collaboration between artists, a sense of community, and the ability to learn about a wide breadth of opportunities that are available within the world of art, so that our Resident Artists are always able to stay ahead of the game.

A Few words from our Resident Artists

Don’t just take our word for it, here is what our Resident Artists think of our programme.

Mouthing Off invited me to become a Resident Artist despite my lack of experience. They saw my potential and ambition and dedicate themselves to regularly promoting my work. I now have a virtual space to exhibit all year round, to share my stories, creative process, and finished works. Creative collaboration is essential for artists in their young careers. Mouthing Off encourages raw debate, innovation, satire, and real conversations that will trigger an emotional response. Our community is a continual source of inspiration, support, and entertainment that motivates me to create and pursue my career as an artist.

Molly Lambourn

Founder, Sophie Stokes

I’m thankful for having the privilege to become part of Mouthing Off Magazine. Through this experience I have recieved numerous opportunities to create and collaborate with others. As a Resident Artist you are always informed of the magazines latest projects and are able to add your creative input. It is a transparent and flexible platform, which makes it very enjoyable to work alongside the staff and volunteers. Knowing that there is a space that posts my new creations and is always excited to see my artwork has been a real help for my art career.

Justine Rainer

Resident Artist, Mouthing Off Magazine

Prior to becoming a Resident Artist at Mouthing Off Magazine I was simply a hobbyist when it came to art. I did not believe that it could be a feasible career for me. Mouthing Off saw the artistic and creative potential in me, and through their guidance and mentorship I have been able to build my confidence. I have now begun to establish myself as an artist: the team has inspired me to create every day, run my social media channels, open my own shop, do art commission work, sell my work locally and develop my skills to the next level.

How Can I Become A Resident Artist?

Unlike our Featured Artists programme we do not currently run an indefinate open-call for people to apply.

Due to the level of commitment that is required from both our staff and volunteers to maintain this programme, we can unfortunatly only take on so many people.

We therefore hold applications at various points throughout the year when we feel that we are able to take on additional artists.

However, we are always keen to hear from and work with those who are interested in becoming part of our Resident Artists programme, so please feel free to send an email over to our Art Director or give us a call!

Our Featured Artist Programme

We want to give back to the artistic community and provide young adults the chance to gain more exposure and experience.

Through sharing your work on our social media, digital gallery, and exhibitions we hope to help artists on their journey by providing them with opportunities that they would typically not have access to.

No matter what your style, medium, or level of experience we would love to hear from you and see what work you’re producing. All you have to do is follow the steps in the guide below to get started!
