This Volunteer Agreement is a description of the arrangement between us, (Mouthing Off Magazine), and you (the volunteer) in relation to your voluntary work. The intention of this agreement is to assure you that we appreciate your volunteering with us and to indicate our commitment to do the best we can to make your volunteer experience with us a positive and rewarding one.

What Roles Do We Offer?

Mouthing Off Magazine offers a wide range of voluntary positions for young adults to partake in. The aim of providing these voluntary positions is not only to enable the continuance of Mouthing Off Magazine but to offer opportunities for young adults to gain experience and skills.

As a volunteer your duties will vary depending on the role that you have been assigned (which will have been previously discussed and agreed upon). The opportunities that we offer include but are not limited to: Editor-in-Chief, Art Director, Editor, Sub-Editor, Illustrator, Social Media Coordinator, and Videographer.

The following segment will explain the general duties of each role. While the majority of the commitments that you will be required to carry out will be outlined in these sections, there might be occasions that you will be asked to complete a task outside of those stated within your role. On these occasions we will of course provide support and training if it is required.

Editor-in-Chief

Approximate Time Committal: 10 Hours per/week

The Editor-in-Chief will be required to complete the following:

  • To manage, direct, and organise all volunteering editors, sub-editors, and illustrators with the help and support of our staff.
  • To organise Mouthing Off Magazine’s article ROTA.
  • To edit written works submitted by editors, and sub-editors, and contributors.
  • To contribute written works to Mouthing Off Magazine.
  • To conduct interviews with persons or organisations when required.
  • To organise and participate in weekly meetings for all volunteering members.

Editor/Sub-Editor

Approximate Time Committal: 8 Hours per/week

An Editor/Sub-Editor will be required to complete the following:

  • To edit written works submitted by sub-editors* and contributors.
  • To contribute written works to Mouthing Off Magazine.
  • To conduct interviews with persons or organisations when required.
  • To participate in weekly meetings for all volunteering members.

Art Director

Approximate Time Committal: 8 Hours per/week

The Art Director will be required to complete the following:

  • To manage, direct, and organise the activities and works of our Resident Artists.
  • To manage, direct, and organise our Featured Artists Programme.
  • To manage, direct, and organise both online and physical art exhibitions created and curated by Mouthing Off Magazine.
  • To manage, direct, and organise funding activities for Mouthing Off Magazine related to our artistic programmes.
  • To organise and participate in fortnightly meetings for our artists and illustrators.

Illustrator

Approximate Time Committal: 8 Hours per/week

An Illustrator will be required to complete the following:

  • To illustrate images for articles within Mouthing Off Magazine.
  • To illustrate images for the Mouthing Off Magazine website.
  • To participate in weekly meetings for all volunteering members.

Social Media Coordinator

Approximate Time Committal: 8 Hours per/week

A Social Media Coordinator will be required to complete the following:

  • To manage, direct, and organise our social media content on one of the following platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • To post daily and engaging content.
  • To encourage and increase our engagement with our viewers and customers.
  • To increase our social following.
  • To participate in weekly meetings for all volunteering members.

Videographer

Approximate Time Committal: 4-6 Hours per/week

A Videographer will be required to complete the following:

  • To edit video footage provided by Mouthing Off Magazine.
  • To create interesting and dynamic video content.
  • To record footage for use within Mouthing Off Magazine.
  • To participate in weekly meetings for all volunteering members.

What We Commit To

We recognise that our volunteering members contribute a great deal to the running and success of Mouthing Off Magazine. We are committed to making sure that volunteers work within a positive environment that provides ample support in an effort to encourage both participation and enjoyment.

Mouthing Off Magazine will commit to the following principles:

1. Induction and Training

  • To provide thorough induction on the work of Mouthing Off Magazine, its staff, your volunteering role, and the training necessary to assist you in meeting the responsibilities of your volunteering role.
  • Free resources will be provided to volunteering staff through mycombina.com to assist them in their training and pursuit of gaining experience and skills.

2. Supervision, Support, and Flexibility

  • To define appropriate standards of our services, to communicate them to you, and to encourage and support you to achieve and maintain them as part of your voluntary work.
  • To provide a personal supervisor who will meet with you regularly to discuss your volunteering and any associated problems.
  • To do our best to help you develop your volunteering role with us and to be flexible in how we use your volunteering.

3. Expenses

  • Expenses for travel, events, equipment or for certain articles should be discussed with the proper authority before each cost is incurred. Upon agreement of these expenses, you will be reimbursed in full after receipts have been provided.

  • To endeavour to resolve in a fair and just manner any problems, grievances or difficulties which may be encountered while you volunteer with us.

What You Commit To

  1. To help Mouthing Off Magazine fulfil its service of providing quality articles, videos, illustrations, and artwork that is both suitable and appropriate to its target audience.
  2. To perform my volunteering role to the best of your ability.
  3. To adhere to the organisation’s rules, procedures, and standards, including health and safety procedures and its equal opportunities policy in relation to its staff, volunteers, and clients.
  4. To maintain the confidential information of the organisation and of its clients.
  5. To meet the time commitments and standards undertaken, other than in exceptional circumstances, and provide reasonable notice so that alternative arrangement can be made.
  6. To provide referees, as agreed, who may be contacted, and to agree to a police check being carried out where necessary.

This agreement is binding in honour only, is not intended to be legally binding contract between us and may be cancelled at any time at the discretion of either party. Neither of us intends any employment relationship to be created either now or at any time in the future.
